It's International Women's Day!

It's International Women's Day and I celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

As mothers it is imperative that we raise our kids to respect equality of both genders. We must teach our sons that girls are not "less than" and teach our daughters "self worth". It's not too late to instill these qualities in our children. They learn by example within their environment.

  • There are no gender roles - When giving chores, don't only give your girl the kitchen (indoor duties) and your boy the outdoor duties.
  • Allowances must be shared equally and they should work for it.
  • Leadership must be encouraged. Allow your girls to lead. Even if they are younger than your boys.
These are just a few simple examples of #genderparity practices that you can use to help guide your kids.

Gender parity would not have been an issue if the men in the C-suites were taught these principles as children.

It's about creating a shift and changing mindsets. It goes against everything we've been taught but we can and must do it. We've come a long way and we have a long way to go. So we need to accelerate the process. We're stronger when we unite. We each can make a difference. Get involved. Make a commitment.

I pledge to help women and girls achieve their ambitions (goals).

Make a pledge!

Our kids are watching...be bold, be courageous, be a change agent and embrace your journey.
