Home for the Holidays

One of the things I love the most besides preparing my heart for Christmas and creating family moments and memories, is the preparation of my home. During the holiday season I decorate my house with elements of the outdoors and family heirlooms. It's literally a home for the holidays! We head outdoors and gather clippings for me to curate organic looks throughout the home.

This year I wanted to use magnolia leaves and my neighbor was kind enough to allow me to clip whatever I needed from her trees. Using outdoor elements is an inexpensive and fun way to decorate. You can never go wrong with natural elements.
I wanted to give my mantle a new look this holiday, so I removed the mirror and added an old window pane I salvaged some years ago and added evergreens from my backyard along with the magnolia leaves I got from next door. In addition, I used two artificial plants I had in the attic to frame the look and add height. I finished the look with a red wreath I nabbed from my sister for a punch of color.

Throughout the house, I combined natural elements with artificial decor. I also use family heirlooms  like my grandma's lamp for a nostalgic touch. When entertaining, I also use her glasses, dishes and tea sets she purchased in Europe while she lived there. After all, Christmas is about family and love.

Don't be afraid to experiment with different designs as you curate a look that is not only warm and inviting, but also, has elements of you and your family. Find creative ways to express yourself in your holiday decor by adding some natural elements to your decor this holiday season.
Be inspired, be creative, be expressive and embrace your journey.
